Rainbow Folders 2.05

Rainbow Folders (RF) is an easy to use program, which allows you to change the color of the icon representing a chosen folder to any color you like. Why is this necessary? Mainly to boost yours computer usage speed & skills.

When you´re exploring a directory which contains lots of subdirectories in Windows Explorer you can easily commit a mistake, e.g. by clicking the folder´s icon which has a similar name to the one you really wanted to go to. With the folders marked with the colors of your choosing, you won´t make any mistake and after some time you´ll be clicking the right folders by impulse.

For example, you can use RF to mark subdirectory TEMP inside C:\WINDOWS\. Then after going to the system dir you won´t be searching the TEMP dir on the whole screen, but at the start you will click e.g. the eye attacking bloody red folder. And now the best part: you can colorize an unlimited number of folders - each into a different color. So you can e.g. colorize all important folders red, then colorize all frequently visited folders to green etc. Also the effect of colorizing folders is not only visible in Explorer but in whole system, so also in any directory selection tree, and open/save dialog in any Windows application! But changing colors is not everything you can do with help of RF, you can also set an extra warning when someone tries to delete a colorized folder, and optional text that will ´pop up´ when the cursor stops above the folder´s icon for a while.

By system crash of MacClock (killed process) run the file RestoreSystemClock.exe to restore correct format of Tray Clock.

i Note, that you must have the Microsoft's file sapi.cpl in System32\dllcache folder to see enabled announces settings. If it is disabled -- the Microsoft's Speech API probably not installed. Exit MacClock, run MacClock_sapi.cpl and press "Play". If you hear the Sam voice, try to find the file sapi.cpl and place it in system32\dllcache folder. Restart MacClock.

How-To:
Install to the folder Program Files/MacBurner, and run the shortcut in the Start Menu. To update to the version 1.1 download the update and replace old Program Files/MacBurner/MacBurner.exe

This app is only the GUI (graphic user interface) to the DOS-app CreateCD by Alex Feinman. It work easy and stable: to burn the content of the "burn" folder, select the target folder, set the desire CD label, select "Burn Disk" action, click OK and... the CD will burned at maximal speed. The multi-session burning is supported too.

Note, that CreateCD burns only the content of the target folder and not the enclosing folder. The folder to the burned content will not be created and all files will be burned into root directory of the CD. But all subfolders will be burned correctly as subfolders.

If you use MacBurner as part of Finderbar (menu File/Burn Disk...) make the shortcut to the MacBurner.exe in MacBurners main folder and run this shortcut (CustomAppToLaunch4=C:\Program Files\MacBurner\MacBurner.exe.lnk)

How To Install: Download und install the package. Add the shortcut to the file MacSwitch.exe to your StartUp folder. Run it.

How To Update: Stop the MacSwitch (right click onto main window and select "Exit"). Download the update. Open it with WinZip and extract to the MacSwitch folder (replace old files).

How To Use: Press Alt+Tab. If you have more as one runned application you will see (may be after short delay, see info below) the main window of application. Navigate with Alt+Tab, Shift+Alt+Tab or directly click the target icon. You can call the float menu with the list of all runned tasks any time by Shift+(Middle click) onto the screen. To exit or restart application right click the main window.

To set new label of runned program or to change the assigned icon, right click the target icon and select "Properties of Item". The PNG and ICO files are supported. The size 128x128 pixels is recommended. Too small or too large pictures will be resized to 128x128 pixels. The 96x96 and 64x64 pixels pictures will be created automatically. If you add many new PNGs with right names (name_of_executable.exe.png) into the folder Images\128 and select "Resize all" from context menu, all new pictures will be correctly resized and will be added into Images\96 and Images\64 folders.

Use additional tags and to add the name of the opened document or current folder to the label of runned application. It is maximal 16 characters long.

The MacSwitch shows the main window with short delay - it make two screenshots to full EMULATION of alpha-blending and transparency. You can quick switch between two last applications by quick press and release Alt+Tab without waiting of main window. Use Ctrl+Tab to switch runned progs without MacSwitch GUI.

See the content of MacSwitch.ini to additional start options (set another label font, set start icon size and so on).

Added in version 1.1: The MacSwitch was new recoded and shows Simply GUI without any delay and the delay by Fine GUI is much shorter. Find new commands in context menu, such as "Simply GUI", "Transparency" and "Use Ctrl+Tab"

MacSearch

Search your PC in Spotlight style!

How-To:

No installation is needed. Simply extract all files to the folder Program Files / MacSearch and make the shortcut to the file MacSearch.exe in the folder StartUp.

Double click the tray icon to show the search field. The image file will be created (in 10-20 sec.). Search anything. Right click onto the file name in the list to see the context menu. Right click the search window or the tray icon to get the main application menu.

Set the "Program Name" = "Spotlight".

To deinstall simply remove the folder MacSearch.

Additional keys in MacSearch.ini :

• UseWheel = 1 or 0 (if you have not the wheel) , default is 1
• ShowTree = 1 or 0 (use to show/hide the folders tree pane in Explorer by "Show folder") , default is 1

• ShowToolTip = 1 or 0 (use to hide the tool tip with the file path) , default is 1

• ResizeResultsWindow = 1 or 0 , default is 1

• ShowProgramName = 1 or 0 (switch off the title of Search Bar) , default is 1

The normal CPU usage by disks rescan is 15-18%, by search -- 3-4%, memory usage 4.5 Mb.

To set the custom skin make the new subfolder "MySkin" in the folder "Skins", create and place the followed files:

If you see in the menu "Open with..." not the full applications name, but only the name of executable file, make the shortcut in your Start Menu to this executable and give it the correct name. Notes to the version 1.5:

1. This version have new command "SendHotkey" - it sends custom keys ans strings. You can send to the active window, as examples, Ctrl+Ali+Shift+r or the string "Hello world!". The strings and letters can be automatically localised, see detailed info in the help file.

2. Commands "SelectMenuItem" and "SelectMenuItemNumber" gets access to standard menus of target window. Note, that some "toolbars" menus are not accessable. Use the command "SendHotkey" for those menus.

3. Command "RunPath" starts any executable, shortcut or document. Use it with full path to the target file as "hotkey" (parameter).

4. If you add you code in the file plugins.ahk , it will be executed. Use it to add your new subroutines (as new "commands" for Finderbar)

F.A.Q.

Q: I get the error message: "q" is not valid key name within a hotkey label." right after start.

A: Set "NotUseHotkeys=1" in the section "General" in the file "Finderbar_Engine.ini". This blocks support of hotkeys in menus.

Q: I not see the Mac symbols in menus.

A: Install the font "Finderbar.ttf" and select this font as font of menus in "Display Properties" of Windows.

Q: I made a shortcut to my favorite application and have set it in the key LaunchCustomApp1=MyFavApp.lnk, but it not work.

A: 1. You must write a full path to this shortcut: LaunchCustomApp1=C:\MyFolder\MyFavApp.lnk
2. Some shortcuts (as example, with parameters) can not be launched. Try to use the path direct to the application.

Q: I use Total Commander as file manager and don't want to see the "Folders Tree" Pane in Explorers Sidebar.

A: Delete /e, from the key Explorer Switches=/e, in the section "General" in the file "Finderbar_Engine.ini". Don't forget the last comma.

Q: I have check "Hide Task Toolbar" but it not work -- I see task buttons in Taskbar anyway.

A: Probably you use non-english version of Windows XP. Start "AU3_Spy.exe" from Finderbars main folder, click onto Taskbar in the right top corner of the screen and note the name of your "Task Buttons Toolbar" in the section "Visible Window Text". It must be the translation of words "Runned Applications" onto your language. Add this in the key TaskPanelLocalName= in the section "General" in the file "Finderbar_Engine.ini".

Q: I have assigned the hotkeys combination, as example, Alt+Ctrl+R, to menu item; it work only if I select this item from the menu, but it not work from the keyboard.

A: Be sure, that you press buttons in right order, Alt and Ctrl and R, not Ctrl and Alt and R. Be sure, that in file "menu.ini" wrote: Item11Hotkey=Ctrl+Alt+r (low case).

Q: I use the hotkey Ctrl+N to open new Internet Explorers window and don't want to get new Windows Explorers window with Finderbars standart hotkey Ctrl+N. And I use hotkey Ctrl+G to group items in Adobe Illustrator and don't want to get "Go to Folder" dialog window with Finderbars standart hotkey Ctrl+G.

A: Simply set the other hotkey to Finderbars menu item, as example, Ctrl+Alt+N to open new Windows Explorers window. Or add the Illustrators windows class to "Excluded Applications" to autosuspend all hotkeys by active Illustrators window.

Q: Menu item "Show Original" and many others are disabled. Why?

A: Enable it youself, but with which command?! There isn't "Original" in Windows XP.

Q: I can use only "Finderbar" font as menu font?!! And that's ALL???!!!! 8-(

Q: Help! I can't see buttons of runned applications on my Taskbar!

A: You have the full list of runned applications in the menu "Window". Or select "Show View Options" in Finderbars menu "View", and switch off "Hide Task Toolbar". Than make your QuickLaunch toolbar so long as main Finderbar window.

Q: Where is now my old good Windows Start Menu?!

A: Please left click in top left screen corner, it is here. Or use "Windows" key of keyboard.

Q: The Finderbar don't full support Mozilla Firefox, hotkeys for "Copy" or "Paste" not always works.

A: I have this problem too. Add the window class of the Firefox to Autosuspend, or switch "Suspend" on/off manually, it helps.
